Royal Canadian Air Farce - The Comedy Group and Television Show
The Royal Canadian Air Farce was a decently easy pick for a foreign example of satire and comedy because not only do I enjoy this comedy group's/television show's humor, and despite however strange or immature it may be at times, I enjoy the humor of a best friend of mine, a natural born Canadian without a U.S. citizenship. This show reminds me of her and what I call her "Canadian Southern" humor; she considers herself more Southern than Canadian, but I always point out the way she pronounces certain words and some of things she does Canadian like. My friend says I'm crazy, but there is something under the surface that makes Canadians distinct and this show proves what I believe.
To enjoy a type of humor and comedy that is not American is definitely unique and fun. To then realize how similar and different the numerous cultures in this world are is even better. Lastly, to just experience a laugh no matter what type of humor causes it is the best because after all "laughter is the best medicine", and humor brings people together in ways that nothing else in this world can.
Even though many people now complain how this comedic group and television show has lost its savor and flavor this show has been said to be truly Canadian and it is loved from coast to coast in Canada.

Behind the Scenes
This comedic troupe, Royal Canadian Air Farce, consists of the talent of Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson, Luba Goy, and John Morgan and the writers Gord Holtam and Rick Olsen. Citizens from all over Canada have listened to CBC Television every week to witness this comedic act quite unlike any other. The humor mostly portrayed by this group is poking fun at Canadian's and the world's "most newsworthy people and events". (Farce) At least at one point in time the Royal Canadian Air Farce has been the number one comedy show in Canada.
In the beginning of this show's history John Morgan and Martin Bronstein founded Air Farce in Montreal in 1970. Members of the "Jest Society" were added upon until there was John Morgan, Martin Bronstein, Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson, and Luba Goy performing together onstage in Toronto and Ottawa by January of 1971. When Dave Broadfoot joined them in 1973 they became The Royal Canadian Air Farce and then experienced their CBC Radio debut. After a few years of of airing on CBC Radio their radio career ended in May of 1997 for a complete total of 612 half hour shows, all original.
In October of 1980 Air Farce began to show on television in one-hour segments on CBC Television. Despite hitting a few rough patches here and there over the years since October 8, 1993, when this show was developed into a weekly series on television, The Royal Canadian Air Farce has been the highest rated show on CBC Television apparently since.

Types of Comedy and Satire that are Viewed
Topical humor, political satire, and sketch humor compromise the general types of comedy and satire The Royal Canadian Air Farce uses in its numerous performances. Keeping up to date on the many prominently shown leaders of Canada and the world along with topics that are brought up in today's world, this comedy group helps inform the viewer, correctly or otherwise, on what is going on in today's world.
For example, in the 2008 Presidential Election of the United States there were not only sketches of Obama but sketches that also included McCain. Also, now that Obama is "back" in 2012 as the United States of America's newly (unofficially) reelected president, there is no doubt that this comedy troupe's portfolio will be and has been expanded to fit in more performances including more of Barack Obama.
Political satire definitely comprises a great deal of this famous Canadian television show, and it definitely receives attention for it too!

Reviews
To find reviews on websites non-Canadian for this Canadian show has shown some underlying fact about what at least a portion of Americans and other foreigners to Canada think about The Royal Canadian Air Farce. Also, somewhat astonishingly some Canadian citizens really like to rag about this show. No professional critics seem to be bothered to write a review on a this "foreign" show, no matter how popular that show may be in its own country of Canada, although there seems to be a surplus of harsh criticizing words from the average person. This truly brings to mind the saying: "Everybody's a critic!"
For example at the website IMDb that has international websites for the countries of Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Portugal, along with those people who speak English such as the U.S., a person from the United Kingdom wished to point out about The Royal Canadian Air Farce that "They're Old and Need to Retire!" He goes on to write: "Who watches Air Farce??????? I don't know if Royal Canadian Air Farce was ever funny. Maybe it was in 1937 when it first went on the radio. Royal Canadian Air Farce is one of the worst shows I've seen on TV though. They should retire and I wonder why didn't they retire twenty years ago? Popcultured with Elvira Kurt, Royal Canadian Air Farce, Mike Bullard are my picks for three worst shows of all time made in Canada, they are all so bad! It's like CBC with Beachcombers it was on for like twenty years! Nobody I know watches Air Farce so why is it still on my TV? These people are 100 years old and they all should have retired in 1976." (Coolidge)
What truly amuses me about this review are the seven, yes seven, question marks after the question "Who watches Air Farce". And then I'd like to ask him to tally it up himself because obviously since it is still so highly ranked and praised on CBC I'd imagine there would be quite a number of people to watch this ever famous comedic troupe. Then to really make me laugh out loud this "critic" goes on to say that this cast should have retired twenty years ago and then to say that "these people are 100 years old and they all should have retired in 1976". This "critic" from the United Kingdom posted his review to the IMDb website in 2006, if I'm not correct in saying that 1976 is thirty years before the year 2006 then I am terribly sorry, however, it would appear that this "hater" merely wished to spout out nonsense that is still quite popular six years after he wrote his review.
In order to save the reader of this webpage more insufficient, nonprofessional reviews to read I will admonish you, the reader, to visit the link above to peruse the many workings and wonders of The Royal Canadian Air Farce yourself and to visit the link below for reviews of "fans". Also, the other links below lead to videos that precedented many of the videos and performances that are now much newer from this Canadian comic troupe in 2012. Enjoy and form an opinion for yourself. Though different from good ole American comedy and satire this Canadian humor still manages to bring many people laughter.
