Eddie Murphy -A Legitimate Comedian And Actor-
To choose just one comedian or comic actor/actress was not the easiest decision I have had to make, but neither was it the hardest. I chose Eddie Murphy because of my connection to him and his connection to my childhood. His face and voice are ones that I have been able to recognize since some of my youngest years, and his appearance in movies for kids of my generation almost always manage to always bring a smile to my face! Eddie Murphy is one comedian that I've known almost my whole life, whether or not I knew exactly who he was when I was younger.
Reviews
One top critic, McClatchy from the Tribune News Service, on the notorious Rotten Tomatoes website, so candidly states: “Murphy, without the words to go along with his bug-eyed double-takes and the mugging, is lost here… He’s never been a silent comic, and never will be.” (Moore) This is one “rotten” review of many on one of Eddie Murphy’s latest films, a 2012 movie, A Thousand Words. I reluctantly agree that Murphy’s voice is key to his whole comic act, and when a whole movie is based on his character speaking as little as possible, it does not shed great light on his comedic figure.
In one of Eddie Murphy’s more popular films, Shrek, a family friendly movie from 2001, Roger Ebert gives a very generous view: “On his mission, Shrek is joined by a donkey named the Donkey, whose running commentary, voiced by Eddie Murphy, provides some of the movie's best laughs. (The trick isn't that he talks, Shrek observes; ‘the trick is to get him to shut up.’)” (Ebert) I wholeheartedly agree with Ebert in this review because Donkey is not complete without Murphy’s dynamic voice and Donkey does not cease to make the audience guffaw out loud. Murphy has moments where he does shine: even if those moments do not always include his candid adult-rated humor.

And lastly, to shed some light on some of Murphy's "stand up comedy" career side, there is a review on the movie Delirious, a 1983 film, starring Eddie Murphy. This is an excerpt of the review by one known as Jeff Giles, one editor who has shared his opinions with the world: "Unspeakably vulgar, unbelievably rude, and the virtual textbook definition of 'politically incorrect,' Eddie Murphy’s Delirious is not only a classic piece of standup, but an honest-to-goodness cultural touchstone for an entire generation of comedy fans." (Giles) According to my own research on this very maturely rated film, Jeff Giles was spot on with his review. Comedy fans miss this side of Eddie Murphy in today's world despite the vulgar, possibly offending tone and language Eddie Murphy uses quite regularly in this movie.
If I was to post a video on this page, and it was not an excerpt of Delirious or RAW, it would be completely shameful because this is what Eddie Murphy is most revered for; however, in order to not chance offending any readers or in this case viewers of this page and to not post something against my own standards, a video of Eddie Murphy's pure, raw talent will not be contained on this website.
HERE LIES THE PLACE OF WHERE EDDIE MURPHY'S TALENT WOULD BE DISPLAYED
(Rent the movie or go on YouTube if you are disappointed. I apologize for any inconveniences)

To sum up the majority of this famous man's life, Edward Regan "Eddie" Murphy was born April 3, 1961. He grew up in Brooklyn and his father passed away when he was young. He and his older brother lived in foster care for a year when Eddie was eight-years-old. Eddie Murphy said this helped him become the hilarious man he is today by developing his sense of humor. Throughout his career, Eddie has been a stand up comedian, major actor, a professional singer, and has made a large comeback when he fell behind in his vocation, and had an image makeover. In his personal life Eddie had a long, romantic relationship with Nicole Mitchell and they were married on March 18, 1993. They had 5 children together before they were divorced. Later, he had a couple of other children with women other than his first wife. Murphy also has had some legal problems, but along with the bad he has been a generous donator to many foundations. Eddie Murphy has been in numerous films and television showings, he has produced a decent number of albums and singles, and he has had countless nominations and awards. Now at age 51, Eddie Murphy still is in business and surprising the world, good or bad, by what he is accomplishing, or what many would say "not accomplishing". (Authors)
The humor or satire that is present throughout Eddie Murphy's life includes some pieces of all of it; however, the main types that are present in his career life include observational comedy, musical comedy, basic satire, physical comedy, and especially in his earlier years, black comedy. His audience over the years have been of the very young to the very old of the human population on the earth. He has just tried to provide entertainment to others for the majority of his life and he has accomplished that goal quite well. He has not tried changing people with his comedic or satirical act, but through close observation anyone can tell that he just loves being in the spotlight to help entertain others, whether by making crude jokes or appearing in family kid movies. His smile is contagious and so is his spirit, and that is why for the most part he has been successful in his life; however, looking at his reviews his "spark" is dying out somewhat and the world in general is not very impressed in the direction he is heading. If I could say anything to Eddie Murphy at this moment, it would be "Good luck!"
